I seriously have this deep nostalgic feeling in me.
So I was looking through my third-grade-yearbook, the year I moved from West Virginia (GO SKINS!) to Michigan.
I'd flipped to the front and read the signature area and one of the messages really got me.
In small, neat and yet lopsided handwriting, this girl had written in pencil:
"Sarah
You were one of my best friends this year. So I'm going to say thank you for being one.
Shalyn."
Next to her name was a heart and above that was "I <3 U" (another small heart.)
Shalyn was this wispy, pretty girl who knew just how to make me smile and laugh. She moved around a lot and never got to have a really long-term friend in her life and the fact that she called me her best friend pleased me then and really made my day now.
